Finnish Energy Council FinnWEC

Finnish Energy Council FinnWEC was founded in 1993 as a co-operation body for various companies and organisations in the energy sector. The aim of the Finnish Energy Council is to promote stable and economically sound development of the energy sector. In order to achieve this aim FinnWEC organises various events and activities.

Co-operation activities include regular gatherings to discuss and debate topical issues as well as organisation of one of the biggest annual energy industry event - the National Energy fair. Finnish Energy Council also provides prices indexes for heavy fuel oil and coal. In addition, Finnish Energy Council annually awards the best master's thesis in fields of energy technology and energy economics.

Finnish Energy Council FinnWEC is National Member Committee in the World Energy Council, WEC, and also co-ordinates other international activities of common interest.

Finnish Energy Council operates as the executive committee in energy issues at the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC).

The decision-making body of the organisation is the Board of Directors, nominated by the members. Each member also nominates one vice member. The vice members form the Executive Committee. The Finnish Energy Industries currently chairs the Finnish Energy Council with Mr. Lauri Virkkunen as the Chairman and Lauri Muranen as the secretary.
